This is an old oak tree on the former Fort Ord that has been blasted by lightning and ravaged by drought, but it is still standing. The painting was recently acquired by local collectors.

- I have been painting for about 30 years. I have a Masters in Art (Painting) from San Jose State University (1985). Most of my work has been in watercolor, but I switched to oils a few years ago and then got into plein air painting. I retired from my day job in social work in 2006 and now I paint every day.
